Joplin FIre Department responds to attic fire on Rex Avenue

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported Structure fire at 811 S Rex Avenue at 8:22 AM Wednesday. November 20, 2013. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 8:26 AM to find light gray smoke coming from an attic vent. Crews found a small fire in the attic, above a bedroom ceiling. They pulled part of the ceiling and extinguished the fire with minimal water, then opened several windows to let the smoke clear out. There was no notable smoke damage in the home.

Crews stayed on scene until 9:32. The house is owned by Suzy Alexander and occupied by Lori Hahnen. 
6 fire vehicles and 17 firefighters responded to the scene, along with JPD. There were no injuries at the scene. 


The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
