Significant fire weather conditions in Joplin area today

(From the National Weather Service)

ELEVATED TO LOCALLY SIGNIFICANT FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY...
THE COMBINATION OF LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND GUSTY SOUTH WINDS WILL
RESULT IN ELEVATED TO LOCALLY SIGNIFICANT FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
TODAY. FIRE DANGER WILL BE GREATEST IN AREAS WITH DRIED FIELD
GRASSES...INCLUDING GRASSLANDS AND PASTURE AREAS. ABUNDANT LEAF
LITTER WILL ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THE FIRE DANGER.
FIRES THAT ARE STARTED IN THESE CONDITIONS WILL GROW AND SPREAD
RAPIDLY...QUICKLY BECOMING VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL.
OPEN BURNING SHOULD BE DONE WITH EXTREME CAUTION...IF NOT POSTPONED
ENTIRELY.
ALWAYS CHECK WITH LOCAL AUTHORITIES BEFORE BEGINNING AN OPEN
BURN.
