The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported Industrial Fire at 1220 W Murphy Blvd, American Fibrex, at 10:51 AM, Saturday, 15 February, 2014. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 10:58 AM to find a large three story industrial complex with light smoke showing. An employee stated there were small fires on top of the ovens which had been extinguished. Fire crews found a few other small fires and hot spots which they extinguished. Crews remained on scene until 1:42 PM.
No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. 7 Joplin Fire units and 17 Joplin Fire personnel responded as well as JPD.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at the time of this writing.
