I Survived the Joplin Tornado author visits Joplin elementary schools, library

Lauren Tarshis, author of the best-selling book, I Survived the Joplin Tornado, as well as other books in the "I Survived" series has been visiting Joplin elementary schools this week and gave a talk at the Joplin Public Library Tuesday.

The author says she got her inspiration from students who would email her stories of their own 'I Survived Letters'. From there, she says she booked a ticket to Joplin and began her series.
