The exhibit features works from: Thomas Hart Benton, Janet Turner, Don Draper, John Stewart Curry, Grant Wood, Birger Sandzen, Casiena Fones, Robert Higgs, and Japanese woodblock printmakers from the late 18th to early 19th century.
This exhibition celebrates Daniel and Mary Longwell's love of the unique and inspiring allure of the American Regionalism art movement of the 1930s, as well as its visual connection to the wonderous landscapes of the Japanese woodblock printers.
“The Longwell collection gives the viewers a chance to glimpse the past. American Regionalism was inspired by the great depression, a period of great and widespread suffering, this art movement helped give hope to people in a time of need, which I think is necessary in our current pandemic,” says Josh Novak, Art Instructor/Curator of the Longwell Museum at Crowder College.
Museum hours are 9:00am – 6:00pm, Monday-Friday, closed weekends and holidays. Please note, due to COVID-19, there is a mask policy in all buildings on the campus when social distancing is not possible.
