(From Crowder College) Crowder College faculty selected their 2022 Excellence in Teaching award recipient Shawna Estep. Estep was nominated and selected based on comments from faculty colleagues.
Shawna Estep began teaching at Crowder College in January 2006. This was also the inaugural year of the Veterinary Technology program. Today, she is director and instructor of the program.
Faculty association president, Deborah Muse shared some of the comments made on behalf of Estep: Effective teaching – Always honing her teaching style and trying various approaches to the same topic or subject. She holds her students to a high standard and provides the tools to succeed. She can set up a good schedule with one eye closed and one hand tied behind her back. She promotes the college on the job and off. She spends a considerable amount of time promoting our program at county fairs. She does not rest until she has more than accomplished her goals.
“While keeping standards high, Shawna does whatever it takes to make sure her students are successful,” stated Dr. Glenn Coltharp, Crowder College President. “She goes above and beyond to make sure they understand the content of the program and can carry out the performance requirements to successfully care for animals.”
The Veterinary Technology program is part of the agriculture division at Crowder College. Students must apply and be accepted as this is a limited access program.
