Three killed in wrong way, head-on collision on I-49

Three people were killed in a two-vehicle collision 10:13 p.m. Sunday on I-49 in Pineville.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2017 Nissan Rogue driven by a 63-year-old Bella Vista, Arkansas woman was heading southbound in the northbound lane when it collided head on with a 2021 Honda Civic driven by a 33-year-old Kansas City, Kansas woman.

McDonald County Deputy Coroner Johnathan Fletcher pronounced both drivers and a passenger in the Honda Civic, a 43-year-old Kansas City, Kansas man dead at the scene at 10:45 p.m.

The fatalities were the 15th, 16th and 17th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
