TRAFFIC ALERT: Route 171 CLOSED at Route 96 in Jasper Co. West of Carthage Sept. 25-26

Where: Missouri Route 171 at Missouri Route 96 in Jasper County west of Carthage

When: 7 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 25 through Friday, Sept. 26

What: Contractor crews pouring concrete for the deck of the new Route 96 bridge over Route 171

Traffic Impacts

All lanes of Route 171 CLOSED at Route 96 Sept. 25-26

Traffic will be diverted up and over Route 171 on- and off-ramps in both directions

Drivers should expect slowed traffic and delays

Drivers urged to find alternate routes

Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the closure

Check MoDOT’ s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

This work is part of the project to replace the Route 96 bridge over Route 171 with a new bridge that is slightly higher and 12 feet longer than the current bridge. The $2.8 million project is scheduled to be completed by November 19, 2025.
