Ribbon cutting scheduled as MSSU completes outdoor tennis court renovations

(From Missouri Southern State University)

Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) has completed the renovation of its six outdoor tennis courts, a project made possible by a $55,000 grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Tennis Venue Services. USTA Missouri Valley contributed an additional $3,500 toward the upgrades.

The project was further supported by a $30,000 appropriation from the MSSU Student Senate, along with funding from an Immersive Learning Grant awarded to the Kinesiology Department.

The newly renovated MSSU Tennis Facility now features six fully lighted outdoor courts, three of which are lined for both adult and youth play. Improvements include new fencing and an ADA-accessible sidewalk and gate, enhancing accessibility and usability for all visitors.

With these updates, the facility expands access to tennis within the community while providing new immersive learning opportunities for Physical Education, Sports and Recreation majors in the Kinesiology Department.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Dec. 9, with representatives from the USTA Missouri Valley Section in attendance to present a check.
