(From the Sarcoxie Police Department)1. We think that we need to discuss how not to get your firearm stolen. When you have your open carry or concealed carry weapon on you, do not, we repeat, beg, and plead...do not take it off in a convenience store bathroom. Things happen; you get distracted and forget it.
Your Glock is now someone else's. It is advisable to get pictures and serial numbers of your firearms and keep them in a safe place.
2. All pertaining children, no matter what distance, need to be correctly restrained in an appropriate car seat or booster seat. When pulled over, we ask for a license and insurance. If you do not have your license, we ask for your name, date of birth, and social security number. Why? To verify who you are.
If your name does not come back on file, your SSN will expedite the incident. Yelling, screaming, and being belligerent with the officer makes it worse. Name-dropping the Chief won't work either. This PSA is for everyone; Missouri law states that you have to have your vehicle registered and insured to drive it on the roadway.
3. We get burning is the quickest way to get rid of trash and whatever you want to get rid of. You CANNOT burn aerosol cans; they tend to go BOOM, scares people, makes the school nervous, AND we were there not long before this time for the same thing. Illegal burning for you!
4. When the school admin stops us to check on the half-naked guy (in only shorts and jacket) sitting by the ball field across from the high school with a bloody face, wait...what? Come to find out; it was an assault that took place at 1622 Clarence. Bryan Jones was placed under arrest for assault and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.
5. We commend those who feed the stray cats around the city. We do not like it when you call a business and threaten to kill the employees if they remove the cats from their property. You received your trespass notice and citation for assault (verbally), you admitted on a recorded line that you said you would kill anyone that messed with the cats.
6. Previous week: If you have a compliant on an officer and wish to speak with Chief Corum you may email her at any time at Policechief@sarcoxiemo.com
That is more advisable than going into City Hall/License Office and commence to cursing, yelling and demanding for an officer to be fired because you were pulled over for your expired plate and giving the officer insurance from 2018.
