(From the Granby Police Department)
Officer Abruzzo demonstrates and sustains superior performance in the execution of his duties as an officer for this department as his humble service to the community should not go unnoticed.
Whereas Officer Abruzzo expedited his response and arrived as the first emergency responder on scene less than two minutes later.
Whereas Officer Abruzzo entered the home to find a family of limited English speaking ability and their toddler child laying unconscious, not breathing, and turning purple on the floor.
Whereas Officer Abruzzo immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation and immediately scooped the child up and began giving CPR lifesaving measures.
Whereas Officer Abruzzo was able to return the child to breathing on its own until emergency medical technicians were able to respond to the scene and transport the child for further treatment and observation.
Whereas this child and its family, as well as the citizens of Granby as a whole, undoubtedly owe the life of this precious young child to the heroic actions of Officer A. J. Abruzzo on November 18, 2021, Officer Abruzzo remains an invaluable member of the Granby Police Department and the City of Granby.
I would hereby like to formally recognize Officer Anthony "A. J." Abruzzo officially with our department's appreciation and the Law Enforcement Life Savers' Award for his heroism and job well done for the city of Granby, Missouri.
