Joplin Regional Airport upgrades topic of Newsmakers program

Joplin Regional Airport has a new manager in Allison Zahner, the first woman to take the helm. She comes as the airport completes construction of the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Facility. In the next Newsmakers, viewers will be introduced to Zahner and learn about the impact of the ARFF building as well as planned improvements at the airport.

Zahner is joined by Public Works Director Dan Johnson and James McBryde, Interim Supervisor of Airport Operations & Emergency response to discuss usage of the airport and benefits of the ARFF building for storing response vehicles and snow removal equipment and the purchase of new passenger bridges.








Rob O’Brian, Joplin Airport Board President joins the conversation to talk about funding for airport projects such as runway improvements and strategies to increase airport usage.

Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. the week of April 13 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS – Missouri Southern State University.

KGCS-TV programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
