MSSU professor's work in environmental, evolutionary biology to be featured on Newsmakers

Dr. David Penning has a fascination with snakes and turtles that has elevated the Missouri Southern State University biology lab to a professional level giving students the opportunity to be part of published research. His work in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology is the focus of the next Newsmakers program.

Dr. Penning brings a turtle friend with him to the show, where he discusses what we can learn from this long-lived reptile, how his high intensity field research class discovered one once thought extinct, as well as the mammal husbandry program created to aid the in-depth work of biology students.







Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. April 20 and 21on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS – Missouri Southern State University.

KGCS-TV will be off-the-air during a planned outage beginning April 22. MSSU is moving the station transmitter to the KXMS-FM broadcast tower on campus.

KGCS-TV programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
