(From the Joplin Fire Department)At 8:53AM, Ladder 1A, Engine 2A, Engine 4A, Rescue 1A, Battalion 1A, and Engine 3A on second alarm responded to the area of 14th and Byers for a reported fully involved structure fire.
Upon arrival crews encountered a heavily involved 2 story garage style apartment with power lines down near the structure.
Crews made a defensive attack on the fire protecting nearby buildings and were able to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries and a cause to the fire is still under investigation.
JFD was assisted by Joplin Police Department, Metro Emergency Transport System, and Joplin Public Works.
