(From KGCS) Catholic education is an option for Joplin area residents and thanks to a $17- million-dollar endowment from anonymous donors, active parish families will be relieved of much of the financial burden of tuition. The Legacy of Faith fund and the focus of the Joplin Area Catholic Schools (JACS) as a provider of private education are highlighted in this week’s Newsmakers program.
Jess Sickman, Director of JACS, gives details of how the Legacy of Faith fund will supplement the parish/JACS partnership, and the addition of St. Ann’s in Carthage to the school system. She also shares details of an upcoming JACS auction to support a separate endowment fund to enhance teacher salaries. Principal Steven Gilbreth and Sr. Joan Schweiger discuss the benefits of a faith-based education on character building, discipline, attitudes of gratitude, and the focus on excellence. Catholic School parent Tara Horinek shares why she chose Catholic schools for her four children.
