Royale Cinema Lounge featured on next Newsmakers

(From KGCS)

Some people might think VHS tapes are a thing of the past, but not so at Royale Cinema Lounge. The renovated and reworked Bookhouse Cinema and its membership style approach to movie and video watching are the focus of the next Newsmakers program.

Brothers and band mates, Nathan and Caleb Hurley explain why they bought the avant garde theatre and the various options for utilizing the space. Royale Cinema Lounge gets its name from the Hurley brothers band Fox Royale.

When not touring, the brothers wanted a space that offers something different when it comes to movies. Hundreds of VHS tapes are available at the cinema with multiple viewing areas as well as the bigger screen for special programming including mainstream movies. Royale Cinema Lounge member, Jake Bennett, explains why he enjoys this approach for a movie theatre and has details of a Midweek Movie club.

Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. the week of March 2 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS – Missouri Southern State University.

KGCS-TV programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
