Joplin, Knob Noster drivers killed in fiery head-on crash between semi, Fed-Ex truck on 43

Two people were killed in a two-vehicle collision 10:17 a.m. today on MO 43 12 miles southwest of Lamar.

According to the Highway Patrol report, 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Leigh Clayton, 61, Knob Noster, crossed the center line and struck a 2021 Freightliner Fed-Ex truck driven by Joshua Wright, 45, Joplin head on with the Fed-Ex truck catching fire.







Barton County Deputy Coroner Jeron Bilyeu pronounced both men dead at the scene at 11:02 a.m.

The fatalities were the 9th and 10th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.

(The names were released by the coroner's office. The Highway Patrol does not release any names of people involved in accidents.)
