Newton County Sheriff reporting more vehicle break-ins

(From the Newton County Sheriff's Department)

We are seeing an increase of reports from citizens regarding vehicles being gone through. We have taken several reports from area south of Joplin where someone has entered an unlocked vehicle, gone through the glove box and console and stolen small items, coins, wallets, etc.

One thing is always the same. The vehicle was left unlocked overnight. Summer is here and the weather is warm. Thieves will be out at night, looking through cars and taking what doesn't belong to them.

While it may be considered an inconvenience to lock and unlock your car, it may save you from having the inconvenience of having items taken and thrown about your vehicle while you slept.

Hide Your Stuff. Lock Your Car. Take Your Keys.
