Veterans Week scheduled at Missouri Southern

Veterans Week will take place at Missouri Southern State University Nov. 9 – 15. Sponsored by a the Show Me GOLD program, Student Veterans Organization, and MSSU Athletics, and Student Activities, the week includes a selection of events to celebrate and support United States Veterans.
The activities include the following:
Saturday, Nov 9:
9 a.m. - "Run with the Heroes" 5K race, race begins at the MSSU flag pole. Registration available athttp://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=2114201. Placement holders receive Veterans Week Military Challenge Coin.
2 p.m. - Military Appreciation Football Game, all 5K race participants and Military ID holders enter the game free of charge. Pre-game events include a military vehicle display, "Thank a Veteran" card signing table, and Raffle Booth. A short Veterans recognition will take place at halftime.
The large ticket raffle item is a brand new 2013 Taotaochina 40cc scooter, bright blue in color. Tickets are one for $3, two for $5, four for $10, eight for $20 and twenty for $50.
Monday, Nov 11: Noon - Veteran Ceremony, MSSU Veteran monument will host guest speakers MSSU Interim President Alan Marble and Maj. Erv Langan (U.S. Army-Ret.).  Raffle Booth will be available at ceremony. 5 p.m. - Raffle Booth, Show Me GOLD booth set at Mayes Dining Hall

Tuesday, Nov 12:
 Noon - Raffle Booth, Show Me GOLD booth set in the Oval 7 p.m. - "We Were Soldiers" movie showing, Phelps Theater. Raffle booth set up outside of theater 30 minutes prior to movie showing. Free to all.
Wednesday, Nov 13: 2 p.m. - Raffle Booth, Show Me GOLD booth set outside the University Bookstore
Thursday, Nov 14: 2 p.m. - "We Were Soldiers" movie showing, Phelps Theater. Raffle booth set up outside of theater 30 minutes prior to movie showing. Free to all.
Friday, Nov 15: 5 p.m. – Cross fit Competition, MSSU Stadium. Registration and questions through CPT Amanda Self at self-a@mssu.edu, $10 entry fee. Registration also available at 4:30 p.m. the day of the competition at the Stadium. Placement holders receive Veterans Week Military Challenge Coin.
