Lamar man arrested for possession of a controlled substance

(From the Jasper Police Department)

On Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023 at 1249 hours, a Jasper officer made contact with two subjects running in front of a gold 2003 Cadillac, near the intersection of 6th Street and Maiden Ln. Contact was made in reference to suspicious activity.

The officer observed a white male and white female running east on Maiden Ln. from 4th St. It appeared the above vehicle was chasing after/following/stalking the subjects. I was able to catch up and make contact about 2 1/2 blocks away at 6th and Maiden Ln.

Contact was made with Ryan Bohrn (Lamar) and Sarah Bohrn (Lamar) who were running in front of the car. When asked what was going on, they said they made a New Year's resolution and was running after eating at McKay's. Both Ryan and Sarah are known to be involved in illegal narcotic activity and criminal activity.

A pat search for weapons was conducted on Ryan. The officer felt what appeared to be a syringe in his front right pants pocket. The item was retrieved, it was in fact a used syringe with liquid residue inside. Ryan was taken into custody for possession of drug paraphernalia after he did not have an explanation for the syringe.

The officer ontacted the persons in the vehicle, the driver, Kelsey Pennell (Lamar) and the front passenger, Austin Russow (Lamar). After questioning, they stated they just got done eating lunch at McKay's and that Ryan and Sarah wanted to go running and they were following after Ryan and Sarah got out of the vehicle at McKay's.

I searched the vehicle due to probable cause.

After a search of the vehicle was conducted, the following: was found:

*Green bottle cap that was lying in between where the back passengers were sitting. The cap contained a white powder/paste substance which I believed was narcotics that was drawn up by the syringe and injected into the body.

After being read Miranda, Ryan admitted the cap was his and the substance inside was percocet pain pills.

Ryan was transported to the Jasper County jail where he was held on a 24-hour hold for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Ryan Bohrn and Austin Russow are currently on probation/parole for burglary and stealing related charges.

  2. Chad Carr is a dickhead, no good cop. So what if they wanted to run? So what the car was making sure nobody hit them. This need to be investigated
