Joplin Secret Santa has yet to make $50,000 donation this year
For the last 10 years or so, here in the Joplin Missouri area, around Christmas there has been a secret santa that has left approximately $50,000 dollars for the Salvation Army every year, in various kettles.
Watching the evening news, it leads off with a huge news story about it having not been donated yet this year, and I find it very distasteful watching the interviews with everybody expecting it to happen.
I would imagine the possibility of all the allegations of mismanagement and money being handled improperly could be a contributing factor. I do not know this for a fact but it certainly seems possible.
Maybe the individual moved? Maybe there is a sickness? Maybe bad times fell upon them? Regardless of the reason I find it very disturbing and tacky to lead the news off with such a story indicating expectations and anticipation of what was in the past a charitable donation.
I supposed that it has become a different type of a "sense of entitlement" for some, to the extent of the captains in charge of the area Salvation Army actually budgeting around it in advance. So wrong!

Rant over. God bless and Merry Christmas.
