Groundbreaking set for Joplin Training Center Tower

(From City of Joplin)

Joplin City officials, Joplin Fire Chief and members of the Joplin Fire and Police Departments invite the public to attend a Ground Breaking ceremony for the Training Tower being erected as part of the Public Safety Training Center (PSTC). The Ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, January 6 with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. The Training Tower is located on the City property along Highway 171, located just south of the former airport terminal.

The four-story training tower provides realistic training for both fire and police personnel, and is part of the first phase of a two-phase development for the Public Safety Training Center. Phase I also included the temporary Training Center located in the former airport terminal on Dennis Weaver Boulevard, which opened in fall 2013. With 5,000 square feet, the training center provides classrooms and office space for training personnel in both fire suppression and law enforcement fields.

More information about the Training Tower and its amenities will be provided at the event.
