Pre-school story hour on tap at George Washington Carver National Monument

(From George Washington Carver National Monument)

The staff of George Washington Carver National Monument invites preschoolers and their families to a story hour on Tuesday, December 10th at 10 a.m. This free program is held indoors in collaboration with Carl Junction Parents as Teachers. The topic is backyard birds!

A park ranger will read a story exploring George Washington Carver’s curiosity about nature, followed by a bird identification activity using plush birds with authentic bird calls! Preschoolers will have the opportunity to make a bird feeder using pinecones.

Everyone is encouraged to stay afterwards and explore the discovery area, take a walk on the nature trail, watch the park film, or picnic. Parents as Teachers is a Missouri-based program that works to promote the optimal early development, learning and health of children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers.
