Crowder College to add practical nursing program at McDonald County

Crowder College is pleased to announce the Missouri State Board of Nursing approved the addition of a Practical Nursing (PN) program at Crowder College McDonald County. The location currently offers a Registered Nurse (RN) program.

The PN program at McDonald County will provide up to 24 student access into a two-semester program with the ability to test for Licensed Practical Nursing and enter the workforce upon completion. The college currently offers a PN program at the Nevada location and has for several years.








“We are thrilled to be able to provide a PN program at McDonald County,” states Sandra Wilson, Director of Nursing. “This addition with the program in Nevada and the RN programs we offer will provide many options for students to enter healthcare fields with strong employment opportunities and excellent salaries.”

The PN program will begin accepting application December 15, 2024 with applicants being selected in May 2025. Both programs begin in the fall semester and provide hands on training with one to one instruction throughout the program. A student can expect to invest under $14,000 in the two semesters and start employment earning an average of $28 per hour, if they live in Newton or McDonald counties. Tuition is only slightly higher for those living Out-of-District.








Crowder College has successful RN and Emergency Management programs with several options for anyone wanting to improve their employability in the healthcare field. Currently the College has RN programs at Neosho, McDonald County, Cassville, and Nevada. The College also provides many Allied Health programs as well as an Occupational Therapy program at its Webb City location. The Joplin Center provides a Surgical Technology program and will begin a Cardiac Sonography program next fall.
