Anna M. Abbott, 26, Pittsburg, Kansas, driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, speeding, failed to drive in a single lane, failed to drive in the right lane, failed to drive on the right half of the roadway, no seat belt, no insurance

Amelia A. Cortez, 49, Macks Creek, felony possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine, no front plate, driving while suspended, possession of drug paraphernalia

Jamie D. Beck, 29, Harrison, Arkansas, driving while intoxicated

Michelle L. Gallion, 50, Strafford, driving while intoxicated

 

McDonald County students honor graduate killed in Iraq in 2006

The students in McDonald County High School’s JROTC program played a major role in the ceremony honoring fallen soldier Chris Marion.

 
He’s the McDonald County graduate who died in battle in 2006 while serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq.

 
Marion was remembered with guest speakers, a 21-gun salute, a wreath-laying ceremony, and a dedication of a new sign marking the official naming of the U.S. Army PFC Christopher Lee Marion Highway.

 
The JROTC students helped with all aspects of the event including planning, setup, and tear down.
Applying lessons from the classroom to the ceremony grounds.

So proud of our students and what they’re doing to show respect and remembrance to a fallen hero.

Carthage Water and Electric employees recognized for aid provided during Hurricane Ian

At last week's Carthage Water and Electric Plant board meeting, our six CWEP linemen who aided in power restoration efforts in Orlando, Florida, following Hurricane Ian, were recognized with a proclamation by our board and staff.

We’re always proud when our crews answer the call to help other communities in need and enjoy celebrating their efforts.

Carthage FBLA students place at MSSU competition

Carthage FBLA competed at the MSSU Business Gateway competition today!

The students competed in competitions and attended workshops. It was a great day for learning and preparing for our competitions in the spring!

Five Carthage High School singers earn All-State Choir honors

Last weekend 34 students represented CHS at the All-District Honor Choir concert! Five members earned All State Choir honors: 

All State alto - Maddison Crocker, All State bass - Will Endicott, First alternate bass - Peyton Norris, Second alternate tenor - Jeremy Reyes, and All State Tenor - Jakob McPheeters. 

Kaitlyn Cooper, Brett Backerman and Walter Reyes received All State Honorable Mention accolades.
