Joplin educators receive Making Learning Come Alive award

(From Joplin Schools)

On Monday, Nov. 11, JHS Teacher Kathleen Reiboldt and 21st Century Instructional Coaches Justin Crawford and Rhonda Sloan were recognized at the Celebration of Schools event hosted by the Southwest Center for Educational Services. They earned a Making Learning Come Alive Award of Excellence for their Ozarkpedia.org project, a web-based magazine about Ozark history written, designed, edited, and published by students. More than 150 students participated in the project. The educators worked together to develop the real-world learning idea, adapt it to the classroom, and train students. Career Path Facilitator Janie Jarrett also assisted with the project and held a writers' workshop for students. Criteria for the award included impact on student learning and achievement, adaptability to other schools and districts, and innovation.
