Mike Moore, the executive vice president and president of Walmart Central will serve as guest speaker during winter commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center at Missouri Southern.
Moore, who earned a bachelor’s degree in management technology from Missouri Southern in 1987, began his Walmart career in 1988 as an assistant manager in Carthage, Mo. Since that time, he has served as co-manager, store manager and district manager in Oklahoma and Nebraska. He was regional vice president in south Texas and south Florida, and was promoted to senior vice president of operations for the west division in 2004.
In 2005, he received the Sam M. Walton Entrepreneur of the Year award and in 2010, he began serving as senior vice president of merchandising. He later was promoted to lead the north business unit, overseeing operations in 19 states.
As the executive vice president and president of Walmart Central, Moore is responsible for operations, real estate, supply chain and merchandising in the Mississippi Delta, Central Plains, Texas and Midwest divisions.
He serves on the executive committee of the Enactus National Advisory Board.
