Besendorfer named Outstanding Teacher Education Alumnus Award at MSSU

Joplin Schools' Assistant Superintendent Dr. Angie Besendorfer was presented the  2013 Outstanding Teacher Education Alumnus Award on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Dr. Al Cade, Dean of the School of Education at Missouri Southern State University, presented a commemorative plaque to her on behalf of the Executive Council of the Department of Teacher Education. The council chose Dr. Besendorfer for her contributions to education. Besendorfer graduated from MSSU in 1990 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education with an emphasis in early childhood. 

The award is given annually, and a brass plate with the honoree's name is placed on a plaque displayed in Taylor Hall at MSSU. Dr. Besendorfer joins Bonnie Turner, media specialist at East Middle School, on the plaque. Bonnie was the 2012 recipient. Dr. Besendorfer has been the assistant superintendent at Joplin Schools since 2007.
