House fire extinguished at 2712 S. Pennsylvania

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 2712 S Pennsylvania Ave at 1:35 AM, Thursday, 03 July, 2014. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 1:40 AM to find no smoke showing on the exterior. Upon investigation moderate smoke was found in the house. Fire was discovered coming from the crawl space under the house. It was quickly extinguished. The attic was checked for any extension but none was found.
Crews remained on scene until 2:49 AM.
Five Fire units and 12 Firefighters responded to the scene, as well as JPD and METS. There were no injuries to responders or civilians.
The house is owned by Arlisa Arwood of the same address.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.

Stark City trucker injured after swerving to miss deer
A Stark City man was injured in a one-vehicle accident 1:20 a.m. today on Highway 54, 165 feet west of Old Highway 54 in Camden County.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2006 Kenworth truck driven by Trent Breedlove, 48, swerved to miss a deer, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a guard rail and a rock bluff.
Breedlove was treated at Lake Regional Hospital for minor injuries.

Four injured in accident near Lanagan
Four Noel residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident 12:44 p.m. Sunday on Route EE, three-quarters of a mile west of Lanagan.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Ford F-150 driven by Roseann C. Lowery, 24, was stopped to make a right turn, when it was rear-ended by a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Michael J. Poole, 30.
Lowery and three passengers in the Poole vehicle, Joseph E. Helmeth, 23; Stacy A. Poole, 28; and Christi K. Wolfe, 26, were treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

A Neosho woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident 12:05 a.m. today, on U.S. 60, a half mile west of Neosho.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1996 Ford F-150 driven by Barbara J. Parker, 60, Neosho, was stopped to make a left turn when it was struck in the rear by a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Zachary G. Jones, 19, Neosho.
Parker was taken to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, with minor injuries.
