Joplin Police Department DWI Arrests, July 7-8

The Joplin Police Department arrested the following people for driving while intoxicated:

Ashley Marie Goodwin, 24, Webb City
Derek Scott Soelberg, 31, Highland, Utah

Injury crash closes northbound lanes of Rangeline at 11th

On July 8, 2014 at approximately 6:43am the Joplin Police Department responded to the area of 11th and Rangeline for a report of an injury crash. The crash involved a motorcycle and a car. It appears that the motorcycle was going north bound on Rangeline and struck a car that was turning into McDonald’s. It appears that the motorcycle struck the vehicle as the vehicle was in the entrance of McDonald’s. The driver of the motorcycle has been transported by EMS to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Currently the northbound lanes of Rangeline at 11th are closed and are anticipated to be closed for the next two hours. The southbound lanes of traffic are open. MoDOT is on scene assisting with traffic. We are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.

JPD investigates armed robbery at Drury Inn

On July 5, 2014 at 2200 hours, officers were called to the Drury Inn and Suites at 3601 S. Rangeline for an armed robbery that had just occurred.
The victim was staying in the hotel and reported that two black male subjects entered his room and displayed a handgun. They left his room with undisclosed items and left south on Rangeline from the hotel in a silver Mitsubishi Galant. The victim stated that the suspects were also in the company of a female. Officers have determined that the victim had some previous knowledge of the suspects.
Officers checked the surrounding business district for the suspect vehicle and did not locate it.
The investigation is ongoing and no other details are being released at this time.
