Highway Patrol DWI Arrests, August 6-7

The Missouri Highway Patrol arrested the following people for driving while intoxicated:

Andres A. Mendez, 49, Poplar Bluff
William S. Lord, 51, Springfield

Carthage teen injured in one-vehicle accident

A Carthage teen was injured in a one-vehicle accident 8:50 a.m. today on MO 59, five miles north of Neosho.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2001 Volvo driven by Brian R. Rebach-Nolasco, 14, Carthage, drove off the road, overcorrected and struck a bridge.

Rebach-Nolasco was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

Closing schedule announced for Joplin swimming facilities

As summer draws to a close, and the start of school approaches, the City Aquatic Centers have announced the schedule for the remainder of August.

Both the Ewert and Cunningham Aquatic Centers will be open through Sunday, August 10. Schifferdecker Aquatic Center’s last full week will end on Sunday, August 17.

Schifferdecker Aquatic Center will also be open during the last two weekends in August: August 23 & 24; and Labor Day weekend: August 30th through September 1. Hours for the pools are from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition, pool staff has announced that lap swimming at Schifferdecker Aquatic Center has ended for the season.

The Joplin Parks and Recreation staff would like to thank everyone for coming out to enjoy the pools this summer, and look forward to another great season next year.

Goodman woman cited for DWI after one-vehicle accident

A Goodman woman was cited for driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 8 p.m. Tuesday, on Route EE, two-tenths of a mile west of Lanagan.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1993 Mitsubishi Diamante driven by Tabitha L. Kenma, 29, Goodman, ran off the roadway, struck two driveways and a fence.

Kenma was taken to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, with serious injuries.

In addition to DWI, Kenma was cited for careless and imprudent driving, no valid operator's license, no insurance, and no seat belt.

Joplin Police Department DWI Arrests, August 4-5

The Joplin Police Department arrested the following people for driving while intoxicated:

Amanda Ruth Harlin, 35, Joplin
Andreu S. Morrison, 24, Seneca

One injured in accident near Joplin

A Noel resident was injured in a two-vehicle accident 7:10 p.m. Monday on I-49 six miles south of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Chevrolet Impala driven by Aden H. Ahmed, 22, Noel, while attempting to pass a 1976 Ford F-150 driven by Roy J. Gossard, 68, Noel, hit the Gossard vehicle and overturned.

Ahmed was treated at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, for minor injuries.

Jasper youngsters injured in one-vehicle accident

Two Jasper youths were injured in a one-vehicle accident 3:40 p.m. today on MO 96, five miles east of LaRussell.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a Mitsubishi driven by William L. Potts, 16, traveled off the right side of the road striking an embankment and a fence.

Potts and a passenger, Tristan T. Potts, 12, were taken to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, with moderate injuries.
