Fire Department quickly extinguishes blaze at 1906 W. 4th

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported Structure Fire at 1906 W 4th Street at 2:48 AM Tuesday, 14 January, 2014.

 Fire crews arrived on the scene at 2:53 AM to find light smoke coming from the roof of a single story residential structure. The structure was unoccupied and empty except for some rubbish. It also had no electric and gas service to it.

 The fire was quickly extinguished and the smoke was allowed to clear out. There was light smoke damage to the room of origin and light water damage to the floor. Crews remained on scene until 4:21 AM.

No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. 6 Joplin Fire units and 14 Joplin Fire personnel responded as well as JPD and METS.


The cause of the fire was determined to be incendiary in nature.
