The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported Structure Fire at 1216 Murphy Ave at 5:58 AM Thursday, January 9, 2014. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 6:03 AM to find smoke coming from a one-story single family dwelling. The house suffered moderate fire, smoke and water damage. Fire crews were able to save a family pet during operations.
The fire was declared under control at 6:20 AM and out at 6:26 AM. Crews remained on scene until 8:14 AM.

No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. 6 Joplin Fire units and 20 Joplin Fire personnel responded. JPD and METS assisted at the scene.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation at the time of this writing.
