House fire at 1034 S. Kentucky determined to be "incendiary in nature"

On Monday May 4, 2020 at 7:28 PM, the Joplin Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire at 1034 S. Kentucky.

The first arriving crew arrived on scene at 7:32 PM and found a one-story vacant single family dwelling with heavy fire throughout the entire structure. 

Initial reports were that there was a possibility of three occupants still in the residence. 

Crews fought their way through the structure and after an initial search the residence was declared vacant with no occupants present. 








Crews were able to extinguish the fire and did extensive overhaul to ensure the fire was out. The building sustained moderate to severe damage.

The Joplin Fire Department responded with 7 units and 20 personnel. The fire department was assisted by the Joplin Police Department, and METS Ambulance Service.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighting personnel.

The Joplin Fire Marshal was called in to investigate and determined the fire to be incendiary in nature.
