Annual awards for students involved at KGCS-TV at Missouri Southern State University have been announced for the 2019-2020 academic year.
They recognize students for their work and contributions at the station. Students are involved in all levels, from producing and hosting programs to helping with station operations. They also worked on live broadcasts of MSSU football and basketball games.
“KGCS provides great hands-on opportunities,” said Judy Stiles, KGCS general manager. “We like to recognize those students who go above and beyond in not only gaining experience, but also helping the station.”
The awards for this year:
Volunteer of the Year - Janna Hautala
Program of the Year - “Southern Nights”
Producer of the Year - Dillon Noblett
Student of the Year - Zach Dobbs
In addition, certificates of appreciation for contributions were awarded to Luke Sachetta, Dillon Noblett, Ryenn Story, Raeann Garrison-Law, Lauren Brown, Alyssa Brown, Ashlea Zumwalt, Shea Schrader, TIchina Coleman and Hank Boulanger.
KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21. It is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
