(From KGCS)You only get one chance to make a first impression and how you dress can make a difference. That’s why the Missouri Southern State University Career Services is hosting Dress to Impress. Details of the professional business clothing giveaway are the focus of the next Newsmakers program.
Alex Gandy, Director of Career Services, shares how viewers can help by checking their closets for gently used business clothing such as suits, pants, blazers, shirts, ties, dresses, skirts, scarves and other accessories such as jewelry and even shoes. Donations of these items are being accepted through February 24th. Gandy explains the importance of dress for job interviews and even internships.
Several students share how they have benefitted from the clothing giveaway and the help offered by volunteers to coordinate the appropriate pieces for multiple outfits. More than 200 students were served within the first two hours of last year’s event. This is the 10th Anniversary of Dress to Impress, and students can get outfits February 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. the week of February 9 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS - Missouri Southern State University.
KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Optimum Internet in Carthage. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
