(From the City of Joplin)Starting Wednesday, February 12, St. Louis Avenue near 9th Street will reopen, allowing full access along this main corridor. (This roadway was originally announced to open in late January. However, work delays prevented this from occurring at that time.)
Work is now progressing to the east, closing South Connecticut Avenue from East Campbell Parkway to East 8th Street as stormwater work progresses in this area. This closure allows for the installation of a box culvert in the railroad right of way near 9th Street.
Drivers may not be affected by this new closure on Connecticut Avenue and 9th Street because Connecticut Avenue shifts northwest at Campbell Parkway and merges with St. Louis Avenue, which carries the bulk of traffic traveling north.
Detours for southbound and northbound traffic will direct drivers to St. Louis Avenue. Please use caution in these work areas. Weather permitting, the work should be completed in early March.
