Webb City Police down to one telephone line Thursday

(From the Webb City Police Department)

Tomorrow (Thursday Nov 2) we will be replacing our telephone system at the PD.

The installers tell us that during the installation we'll be reduced to a single telephone line, instead of rolling over to up to six lines, for a short time.

During that time when you call the PD you may receive a busy signal. Please call 9-1-1 if you have an emergency or continue to call 417-673-1911 for non-emergency issues.

We appreciate everyone's patience during this installation.

Joplin Police arrest Galena woman wanted on two counts of involuntary manslaughter

(From the Joplin Police Department)

The Galena Police Department was seeking the arrest of Shelby Colon for involuntary manslaughter.

Last night, one of our detectives developed information that she was at 1618 Connor. He and a group of our patrol officers responded to the address just after 10 p.m. to locate her.

While there, she arrived in a vehicle in the alley behind the house and was taken into custody. She is held in our jail on a felony fugitive hold.

The crimes for which Colon has been charged are described in this July 6 news release from the Galena Police Department:

The Galena Police Department is investigating a vehicle – pedestrian accident which occurred early this morning at 18th and Main Street in Galena, KS.

The preliminary investigation indicates at approximately 07:05 a.m. a Silver 2001 Mitsubishi Montero driven by 24 year old Shelby L. Colon, of Galena was driving South on Main Street when she struck Charles W. Burkybile Jr., 66 years old, and Glen A. Roosa 86 years old, both of Galena who were walking north on Main.

Charles Burkybile Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene, Glen A. Roosa was transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin were he later died from his injuries.
