Accused murderer of MSSU coach pleads not guilty

Jeffrey Bruner, 39, Joplin, pleaded not guilty in Jasper County Circuit Court this morning to first degree murder and armed criminal action charges in connection with Friday night's shooting of Missouri Southern State University offensive line coach Derek Moore outside the Northstar Regal 14 Theater.

The arraignment was conducted by video with Bruner remaining in the Jasper County Jail.

Judge Richard Copeland appointed a public defender for Bruner. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27.
