Fund established for son of murdered MSSU football coach

(From Southern News Service)
A fund has been established for Elijah Moore, the 6-year-old son of slain MissouriSouthern State University Assistant Football Coach Derek Moore.
Tomorrow will mark the first football game for the MSSU Lions since Moore’s death.
Following a moment of silence before the game with Lindenwood, Missouri Southern’s spirit squad will collect donations from the crowd.

The game will begin at 2 p.m. at Fred Hughes Stadium.
“We know Derek loved the Missouri Southern Lions and the Lions loved him,” said Missouri Southern Interim President Alan Marble. “We feel this is a fitting tribute to Derek’s life and work. We encourage fans to give at the game or to make a contribution to the Go Lions Elijah Moore Trust Fund.”
Missouri Southern officials say audio excerpts from Monday’s memorial for Moore will be played during halftime.
“On the field, Derek was all about getting the job done,” said MSSU Athletics Director Jared Bruggeman.  “Now we want to get the job done for him. It will be an emotional day for everyone.”
Elijah lives with his mother in the state of Iowa.
Those wanting to give directly to the Go Lions Elijah Moore Trust Fund should contact Commerce Bank at (417) 626-4000.
