One hundred fifty thefts from vehicles in Joplin since Nov. 1

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Since November 1, 2013 the Joplin Police Department has taken approximately 150 reports of thefts from vehicles. Of those reports, there have been 7 incidents where 9 guns were stolen from the vehicles. There does not appear to be any certain area of the city where these thefts involving guns are occurring, nor does it appear that certain vehicles are being targeted because guns are in the vehicles.

We want to remind everyone that it is important to secure your vehicles and to remove your valuables from your vehicle whenever the vehicle is left unattended. It is even more important to make sure and secure any weapon that you may have in your vehicle inside of your house whenever you are away from the vehicle.
