Crowder College has over 250 area high school students participating in the Upward Bound Summer program. They have been living on campus during the week and engage in various research projects Monday through Thursday. Classes began May 30 for the students.
Students have the option of selecting from courses in the college prep academy. This year’s classes include:
· Crime & Punishment and Psychology of Crime
· Digital Storytelling
· Aggin’ it On
· Droning On and Mussel Beach
· Public Relations & Marketing
· Read. Run. Repeat
· Exploring 3-D
· So, You Think You Want to be a Doctor?
· Teaching the Exceptional Child
· Around the World in 18 Days with a Camera
· To Infinity and Beyond
Research project presentations will be Wednesday, June 28, from 8-11am & 2-5pm in the Elsie Plaster Community Center. Each class will have student presentations showcasing their work and research.
Upward Bound programs are federally-funded programs designed to provide education access and assistance to income-eligible, first-generation, and/or disabled students. Crowder College UB Programs provide 300 high school participants in 10 counties in southwest Missouri with an opportunity to complete a course of college preparatory study, which equips them for success in post-secondary education.
