Names released of Reeds couple stabbed by 14-year-old

The names of the victims to the stabbing were James Powell and Dawn Powell both of the residence.

The investigation will be turned over to the Juvenile Office and all further questions should be referred to them. 

Both James and Dawn Powell have been released from the hospital. 








Original News Release 

On 4-25-20 at approximately 10:42 p.m., Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to 8711 CR40 in Reeds, in reference to a stabbing with injuries. 

When deputies arrived they located a 54-year-old male and 54-year-old female with serious injuries. 

Both the male and female were transported to local hospitals for treatment and are expected to make a full recovery. 

A 14-year-old juvenile male was taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Joplin, Mo. There will not be any more information released at this time as this is an active investigation.
