Goodman man arrested for drug trafficking; cocaine, guns seized

On 3-21-2024, Deputy Mike Miller responded to the Olympia Road area of Goodman regarding a disturbance complaint with a firearm involved.

Deputy Miller, with the assistance of three Anderson Police Officers secured the scene and investigated the complaint.
 






During the course of the investigation, Joseph Manion, 45, Goodman was arrested and Deputy Miller seized a backpack that Manion had hidden in a BBQ grill. Deputy Miller had probable cause to believe that the backpack contained the firearm used in the disturbance.
 
On 3-22-2024 Deputy Miller applied for and obtained a search warrant for the backpack and a subsequent search of the backpack revealed four handguns, including one that had been reported stolen in Newton County, as well as in excess of 32 grams of cocaine, scales, baggies and other items.
 
Manion has been charged with Trafficking Drugs 1st Degree, and Receiving Stolen Property, felony and is being held in the McDonald County Jail with No Bond.


Additional charges are expected.
