McDonald County dispatch, deputy sheriff stop a domestic assault

(From the McDonald County Sheriff's Office)

It is with great pleasure I’m able to write this message concerning the actions of McDonald County 911 Dispatch Supervisor Darbey Pace and McDonald County Deputy Sheriff Kyle Kuhn.

On March 17th 2024, Pace received a 911 hang up call. Although the caller denied any need for fire/law or EMS, Pace went beyond the information given, listened to the reporting party’s voice and tone as well as the background noises and determined this call should not be given as a routine 911 hang up but rather a disturbance/domestic.

Deputy Kuhn arrived first and waited patiently and professionally until hearing a male voice in the background scream he was going to kill the reporting party.

Deputy Kuhn unhesitatingly forced entry into the residence and stopped any additional assault.

This evening it was determined from a unrelated call tonight that the reporter was more severely assaulted than she otherwise led us to believe initially.

I am personally of the opinion that without the attention to detail and good judgment on Pace’s behalf and the bravery and independent judgment exercised by Kuhn the outcome of the physical domestic might have been radically different.
