Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident 7:45 a.m. today on Highway 76, five miles north of Highway 43 in McDonald County.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2001 Chevrolet truck driven by Kaylin R. Zimmerman, 19, Southwest City, ran off the roadway and struck an embankment.
Zimmerman and a passenger, Lilly K. Clark, 3, Southwest City, were treated for minor injuries at the Grove Hospital.

Four injured in two-vehicle collision near Longview
Four people were injured in a two-vehicle collision 7:20 p.m. Sunday on Highway 76, one mile south of Longview.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2006 Dodge Ram driven by Dana W. Bland, 57, Purdy, was making a left turn northbound from a private drive onto MO 76 and struck a 2008 Chevrolet Impala driven by Dalton S. Woods, 18, Anderson.
Bland was treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital, Cassville. Woods and two passengers in the Bland vehicle, Daynaira D. Harlan, 19, Golden, and Brett E. Meek, 20, Purdy, were treated for minor injuries at Freeman Neosho.

“See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” Hebrews 12:15 (NIV)
Devotion:
She didn’t realize that I happened to turn and look back at her at the exact moment that she was making fun of me, but I did. And it hurt.
I was leading music for a church service and had some ideas about making the worship time a bit livelier. I had suggested a couple of changes and hoped that my enthusiasm would transfer to the entire group of singers and musicians.
But when I glanced back at a member of my team, she was laughing and mimicking my encouragement in a high-pitched voice while she walked in a swaggering gait toward the other members.
I quickly turned away but my heart sank. Immediately I began to question myself: Did I appear like that to the other members of our worship team? Did they think the same thing about me? Although I didn’t see it, were they secretly laughing at my attempt to lead the team? Did I look and sound foolish?
My thoughts switched to her. Why did she make fun of me like that? Did she mean it as a joke or was there another reason?
Then something started to build from deep within: the hurt and humiliation I felt were immediately fueled by anger that a sister in Christ would treat another in that way. And a tiny seed of bitterness began to grow in my heart.
Oh how I wish I could tell you that I immediately forgave her and everything was fine. But that would not be the truth. I could have forgiven her immediately, but honestly, I just didn’t want to. Instead, every time I saw her I felt the bitterness root dig a little deeper in my heart as it crowded out the mercy, grace and forgiveness that the Lord had extended to me.
Today’s Key Scripture in Hebrews 12:15 says “See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.”
I had done exactly what the writer of Hebrews had warned me NOT to do. I allowed that bitter root to grow AND I had watered it with my attitude of “She doesn’t deserve to be forgiven!” I had completely forgotten that I do not deserve God’s forgiveness or His mercy and grace that He has extended to me.
It was months before I acknowledged that I could no longer carry the weight of bitterness and unforgiveness and I allowed the Lord full control of my heart.
Was it painful? Yes. Pulling that root of bitterness out of my heart took strength that could only come from the Lord.
I forgave and the Lord forgave me. I extended grace and received grace from my Father. Take that, bitter root!
My Prayer for Today:
Father, help me to forgive and offer grace, as you have done for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Has there ever been a time when someone hurt you and you felt you just could not forgive her for what she did or said?
Application:
Meditate on today’s power verses and ask the Lord to give you an attitude of forgiveness and grace as you choose to forgive today.

December 10 public meeting set for East Newton bond issue proposal
As part of the continued efforts in keeping the patrons informed, the East Newton R-VI Schools administration will provide monthly information concerning Board meetings.

Enrollment & Attendance for the end of October. Enrollment was 1,364 K-12. Triway campus with 379, Granby campus with 513, and the High School with 472. Overall attendance percentage was 94.9
District and Building APR
National FFA Convention (recap) was postponed until December
Under Old Business, the Board discussed the 1st reading of MSBA policy updates. The Board discussed the options for an April “no tax increase” bond issue. The Board wanted to hold a community meeting in December to let patrons give input on what they would like to see for projects. Approximately $4 million will be generated by the “no tax increase” bond issue. The meeting will be held on December 10 at 7:00 PM at the high school cafeteria.
Last under old business was a discussion regarding the high school campus being connected to the Newton County PW District with regards to their upgrades from the passage of their November Bond Issue.
In respect to New Business, the Board approved postponing the selection of the John T. Belcher Scholarship applicant until December. The Board approved the filing dates for Board candidates with respect to the April Board election. Opening dates for filing is December 15 to January 19. Filing will take place on dates the central office is open. The Board approved Bill Kirby as Homeless Liaison and Darren Cook as Migrant/ELL coordinator. The Board approved the school audit and then approved a new Budget amendment. Last on the agenda was to discuss a better way to handle public comments on the agenda in case we have a patron wishing to speak.
The Board then went into Executive Session pursuant to RSMo. 610.021: Paragraph 3 Employees
