Carthage residents injured in collision on 96

Two Carthage residents were injured in a two-vehicle collision 10:30 p.m. Saturday on MO 96 at the east Carthage city limits.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Yonathan A. Villatoro Sanchez, 28, Carthage, failed to yield and struck a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Nelson Boswell, 57, Carthage.

Boswell and a passenger in his vehicle, Michelle E. Boswell, 56, Carthage, were treated for minor injuries at Mercy Joplin.

Recently Newton County residents have been hit with calls from “Publishers Clearing House” in regards to winning prizes.

 
1. PCH does not call ahead when you are a winner.

2. PCH does not require payment for you to receive your prize.

These are scammers who will convince you have won a big cash prize and a car but make you pay them a fee via a gift card. TOTAL SCAM. Please don’t give them any money!

Joplin man suffers serious injuries in one-vehicle crash

A Joplin man was injured in a one-vehicle accident 9 a.m. today on Marten Road three miles east of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2012 Kia Sportage, driver unknown, traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled across the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

Two people were in the vehicle, with one of them, Gary L. Hood, 63, Joplin, treated for serious injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
