Barton County Sheriff searching for fugitive

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office in Lamar Missouri is asking for the help of the community in locating a wanted person. 

On 07-16-2019 the Barton County Court issued a Capias Warrant for 35-year-old Matthew M. Wells, of Springfield Missouri. 

The warrant was issued by Judge Munton for failure to return to confinement. 

The original criminal charge on the warrant was for stealing.

 If anybody has any information of his whereabouts you are asked to contact the Barton County Sheriff’s Office at 417-682-5541 or your local law enforcement agency.

So you want to be a Carthage Police night shift supervisor

Patrol Sergeant - City of Carthage, MO -

Active City looking for ethical, professional, hardworking, and community minded person to protect our citizens and property. 

The position is likely to be night shift supervisor. The hours range from 6PM-6AM. The days rotate 3 on and 3 off. 

Benefits include retirement with contributions paid by the city. Medical, dental and vision is available. 

Pay ranges from $16.40 an hour to $22.51, based on experience. 5 years of law enforcement experience is preferred.

Applicants must be 21 years of age and have POST Certification to apply.

Lacey Baxter named Joplin Police Department Officer of the Month

Officer Baxter is awarded May 2019 Officer of the Month:

Officer Baxter has been facilitating the Citizens Police Academy since 2012. On May 9, 2019 a graduation ceremony for the 51st class of the Citizens Police Academy was held.

Citizens that graduated from the program are constantly talking about how much they appreciate Officer Baxter. They talk about how enjoyable she makes the class for them and often she builds friendships that last beyond the end of the class. 

Not only did Officer Baxter make the Citizens Police Academy successful, but she has been single handily taking care of all the department’s crime free and public appearance events. 

Due to manpower shortages officers were pulled from the Crime Free program to help fill other needs throughout the department. Officer Baxter didn't get discouraged, but instead she remained focused and did what she had to do to keep the programs working.
I know we often give awards based on an action or an arrest, but we must remember that Officer Baxter is having a positive influence on the citizens that attend this program. These citizens in turn speak highly of the department and support our actions and missions.

Pineville woman injured crashing into tree

A Pineville woman was injured in a one-vehicle crash 6:10 a.m. today on Elk River Road, one mile west of Pineville.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2020 Toyota Corolla driven by Deena M. McAllen, 48, Pineville, drove off the roadway and crashed into a tree.

McAllen was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

Stella woman injured in accident near Neosho

A Stella woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident 2:20 p.m. today on Business 60, three miles east of Neosho.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Anita K. Carterman, 55, crossed the center line and sideswiped a 1993 Freightliner dump truck driven by Christopher M. Huff, 47, Reeds.

Carterman was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
