Ketrina Jones named Joplin Police Officer of the Month

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Officer of the Month September 2016

On September 30, 2016, Officer Ketrina Jones was on patrol at the Sunrise Inn when she observed the dome lights on in several vehicles on the lot. Believing this to be suspicious, she investigated further and saw that the vehicles had been rummaged through. Upon checking the area, she noticed a male walking through the lot. Jones was familiar with the male; as she had conducted a pedestrian check on him earlier in the evening and knew what he had in his possession at that time. She located the male's suitcase stashed nearby with numerous pieces of electronics, stereo equipment, and musical instruments that he had stolen from several vehicles. The stolen items totaled more than $2,600.

Due to Officer Jones’ diligence, she was able to locate the suspect of the vehicle tampering, along with the recovery of items stolen from the vehicles parked on the lot. This activity is one that officers look for every night and rarely are able to identify the suspect and make an arrest.

Thank you Officer Jones, you are an asset as a member of the Joplin Police Department and to the citizens of our community.

Sincerely,

Matthew Stewart
Chief of Police
