Neosho, Stark City residents killed in collision on 86

Two people were killed in a two-vehicle collision 7:05 a.m. today on MO 86, one mile west of Newtonia.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2020 Kia Sorento driven by Diania F. Bittner, 36, Neosho, crossed the center line and struck a 2015 GMC Sierra driven by Jane A. Taylor, 66, Stark City.

Assistant Newton County Coroner Jerry Deems pronounced Bittner dead at the scene.








Dr. Carney at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, pronounced Taylor deceased at 8:27 a.m.

The fatalities were the 61st and 62nd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.

  1. A cellphone was probably involved.
    People who are on their cell phone while driving should be find a minimum of $1,000. $2,000 the second time. The third time they should lose their license for a year. It's as bad or worse than drunk driving.
